º£½ÇÉçÇø and Consulate General of Mexico in Austin Celebrate Children's Day
Tomorrow, Austin ISD student Uriel Lopez Gutierrez will fill the role of Consul General for the Day. This is made possible by a collaboration between the Consulate General of Mexico in Austin and Austin ISD to celebrate Children's Day, El DÃa del Niño.
As Consul General for the Day, Lopez Gutierrez will explore different state and city agencies to learn about government agencies and the role of the Consulate of México.
Lopez Gutierrez, a student at Maplewood Elementary, is a recipient of the 2015 º£½ÇÉçÇø "Outstanding Progress in English as a Second Language Program" Latino Academic Achievement Award.
"Being able to offer consul general for a day will allow Uriel the opportunity to explore civic and cultural spaces that can provide an enriching academic experience," º£½ÇÉçÇø Chief Academic Officer Pauline Dow said. "º£½ÇÉçÇø is proud to collaborate with the Consulate General of Mexico in Austin to celebrate El DÃa Del Niño and recognize and honor our children."
